And you're there.

A quick hand with a family computer.
A familiar desktop, miles away.

  1. 01

    Open Rushmote on both computers.

Download the Windows package, extract it, and run Rushmote. Keep the included files together.

  2. 02

    Enter the other computer's ID.

Ask the person you're helping for their ID, then click Connect.

  3. 03

PILOT NOTE

This is an early testing build, and things may change. Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning because the pilot isn't code-signed yet. Test on computers you have permission to access. macOS and Linux aren't available yet.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Glad you asked.

Is Rushmote really free?

The pilot is free to try. Our plan is to keep personal use free, with paid corporate offerings supporting the project.

Do I need to install it?

You can run Rushmote from the extracted folder. For unattended access, use the app's installation and service options. Leave local approval on when you want to accept each incoming connection yourself.

How does a connection work?

Rushmote uses your ID to find the other computer and attempts a direct connection. If that isn't available, a relay carries the session. You can see whether your session is connected directly or through a relay.

Can someone connect without my permission?

With local approval enabled, you approve incoming sessions. If you choose unattended access without local approval, a connecting person must provide your secret. Only share it with people you trust, and end a session whenever you need to.

What about macOS and Linux?

Windows comes first for this pilot. macOS is next on our roadmap, followed by Linux. This page will be updated as builds become available.
